Questions about subletting with Kouchd
Do I need Kouchd Plus to sublet?
Yes. Subleasing and utility bill splitting are included with Kouchd Plus, at $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Your subletter does not need Plus.
Does Kouchd collect rent or hold my deposit?
No. Kouchd keeps a record of rent, bills, and deposits. Any money moves directly between you and your subletter, outside Kouchd.
Do I need my landlord’s permission?
Many leases limit or require consent for subletting, so check yours first. Kouchd asks whether you have confirmed consent during setup, but it cannot give that consent or tell you what your lease allows.
Does this replace a written sublease?
No. Kouchd keeps a shared record of what you agreed. It is not legal advice and does not replace a written sublease or anything your local laws require.
Can Kouchd help me find a subletter?
No. Kouchd is private by invitation, with no public listings. Use it once you have found someone.
What happens if my Plus plan ends during a sublease?
That sublease becomes read-only until Plus is active again, and in-app exports stay blocked. Both of you can still view your records, and you can still end the sublease. Your other stays continue under the Free plan. Your subletter sees this rule before accepting and should keep their own copy of the agreement.
Start your sublease with everything written down.
Set it up with Plus, then invite your subletter for free.
